Why SyrSpend® SF PH4 NEO?
Children are not small adults.
For a medicinal product to be used in all age groups, a range of different dosages should be made available. Liquid formulations allow simple, accurate, and safe dosing and are therefore encouraged. They provide maximal dosing flexibility and allow the use of a single formulation.
Unlike other commercially available vehicles to make liquid formulations, SyrSpend® SF PH4 NEO contains only safe ingredients and can even be used in neonates.
SyrSpend® SF PH4 NEO in a nutshell
Dosing challenges in pediatric patients
The physiology of infants differs considerably from that of adults. Absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion variate greatly during human development, with most pronounced changes during the first year of life. When it comes to excretion, neither hepatic clearance nor glomerular filtration or tubular secretion are mature at birth, and development to full capacity may take up to 2 years.
SyrSpend® SF PH4 NEO is:
Avoidable excipients in pediatrics
Excipients should be pharmacologically inactive but may cause adverse events in daily practice. Particularly young children are not always able to metabolize or eliminate pharmaceutical ingredients sufficiently well.
Therefore, there are many known excipients that need to be avoided in neonates and infants. These include ethanol, propylene glycol, polyethylene glycol, benzyl alcohol, parabens, benzoic acid, sucrose, fructose, mannitol, sorbitol, xylitol, aspartame, and colorings. Cumulative exposure to these excipients is known to increase their toxicity.
